The cartoon in question appeared in Farm News on April 29 showed two farmers talking to one another. The farmer on the left says, “I wish there was more profit in farming.” The farmer on the right responds, “There is. In year 2015 the CEOs of Monsanto, DuPont, Pioneer, and John Deere combined made more than 2,129 Iowa farmers.”
Rick Friday, un cartoonist che ha lavorato in un giornale locale dello Iowa per 21 anni, è stato licenziato per una vignetta che ha criticato la Monsanto ed altre importanti società nella Big Agricoltura.
La vignetta in questione è stata pubblicata in News Farm il 29 aprile.
Mostra due contadini che parlano tra di loro.
Il contadino a sinistra dice: "Vorrei che ci fosse più profitto in agricoltura."
Il contadino sulla destra risponde, "C'è. Nel 2015 gli amministratori delegati di Monsanto, DuPont, Pioneer, e John Deere insieme hanno preso più denaro di 2.129 agricoltori Iowa. "
Again, I fall hard in the best interest of large corporations. I am no longer the Editorial Cartoonist for Farm News due to the attached cartoon which was published yesterday. Apparently a large company affiliated with one of the corporations mentioned in the cartoon was insulted and cancelled their advertisement with the paper, thus, resulting in the reprimand of my editor and cancellation of It's Friday cartoons after 21 years of service and over 1090 published cartoons to over 24,000 households per week in 33 counties of Iowa.
I did my research and only submitted the facts in my cartoon.
That's okay, hopefully my children and my grandchildren will see that this last cartoon published by Farm News out of Fort Dodge, Iowa, will shine light on how fragile our rights to free speech and free press really are in the country

Ancora una volta, cado per l' interesse delle grandi imprese. Non sono più il vignettista editoriale per Farm News per colpa della vignetta che è stato pubblicata ieri. A quanto pare una grande azienda affiliata con una delle multinazionali menzionate nel cartone animato si è offesa ed ha annullato la pubblicità col giornale, in tal modo, il mio editore mi ha mandato una mail annunciandomi la cessazione delle pubblicazioni di Friday cartoons, dopo 21 anni di servizio e di oltre 1090 vignette pubblicate a oltre 24.000 famiglie a settimana in 33 contee dello Iowa.
Ho fatto le mia ricerche e presentato soltanto i fatti nel mio cartoon.
Va bene, spero che i miei figli e i miei nipoti vedranno, questa ultima vignetta pubblicata da News Farm di Fort Dodge, Iowa, brillare di luce su quanto siano fragili i nostri diritti alla libertà di parola e la libertà di stampa sono in realtà nel paese
