The Art of Resistance: The Winners

First Prize: Pete Kreiner, Australia

With a total 1781 submissions from 76 countries we think our first international cartoon competition was a huge success! Out of all these submissions we made a shortlist of 200 cartoons; on March 5, this shortlist was presented to a professional jury, tasked with the difficult job to select the cartoons that will be featured in the upcoming exhibition ‘The Art of Resistance’ and to determine the winners.

The jury consisted of Hajo, a well-known Dutch cartoonist, Saskia van Loenen, chairperson of Pers & Prent (a foundation promoting political cartoons and organizer of the yearly Dutch cartoon award Inktspotprijs) and Michiel van Hattem, president of vfonds, a Dutch NGO with a focus on peace.

Together, they selected 57 cartoons, including 9 honorable mentions and 3 winners. Today, we announced the winners at the Freedom Festival in Flushing, the Netherlands.

Con un totale di 1781 contributi da 76 paesi, pensiamo che il nostro primo concorso internazionale di cartoni animati sia stato un grande successo! Tra tutti questi contributi abbiamo realizzato una selezione di 200 cartoon; il 5 marzo questa rosa è stata presentata a una giuria di professionisti, incaricata del difficile compito di selezionare i cartoon che saranno presentati nella prossima mostra 'The Art of Resistance' e di determinarne i vincitori.

La giuria era composta da Hajo, un noto fumettista olandese, Saskia van Loenen, presidente di Pers & Prent (una fondazione che promuove i cartoon politici e organizza l'annuale premio olandese Inktspotprijs) e Michiel van Hattem, presidente di vfonds, una ONG olandese che si occupa di pace.

Insieme, hanno selezionato 57 cartoon, tra cui 9 menzioni d'onore e 3 vincitori. Oggi abbiamo annunciato i vincitori al Freedom Festival di Flushing, nei Paesi Bassi.
